Four for Pakenham

Dec 03, 2016

So back we go again today to Park in Pakenham. The state of the art facilities at the new Tynong venue are fantastic and whats even better is that it is only a stones-throw from our farm at Bayles.

Smart Dart runs in race 2 the Sportsbet Racing Form Handicap over 1200m. Having twice won over this distance at this track on the synthetic surface earlier this year, I am confident that Arrow should go really well today. Ben Thompson guided the bay gelding to victory on Kyneton Cup Day at the start of last month and knows Arrow well. So heres hoping we get a big run from Arrow.

Race 3 sees Miss Gidget line up in the Viatek BM78 Handicap against some tough opposition. She has worked really well at home all week and she runs with a one eye blinker on her inside eye. This should help to keep her focused. Jye McNeil's 1.5kg claim will help give the mare every chance.

Then straight into race 4, the Momentum Gaming Fillies & Mares BM 78 Handicap, where Az Given goes around ridden by Ben Thompson. The 1400m distance is shorter than the mares ideal trip so she might need further, but she is good hands with Ben onboard, who is proving himself as a very talented apprentice.

A short breather for us all then onto race 8 where we have Rewarding Effort taking his chance in the VOBIS Gold Bullion. The trouble with these kind of races is that as the prize money increases, so too does the competition! With a prize fund of $100,000 theres no shortage of strong contenders. Having been the bridesmaid on his last 2 appearances at this track, maybe today will be the day we can go one better. There should be more pace on in today's race which should play to his strengths. Jamie Mott pairs up again and his style of riding seems to really suit this horse so with a bit of luck in running he should go very close today.

Best of luck to all the connections of today's runners.
