Can Fudged get the toffee?!

Dec 14, 2016

It's been a difficult few days for the horses weatherwise. We do our best to ensure that they remain cool in their boxes. As you can see from Miss Vixen's video, some of the horses enjoy a little afternoon shower to freshen up! But just when we all start adjusting to the heat, in true Victorian style - it cools back down again! Check out the video here.

So today we head down the Peninsula to Mornington. Race 5  - the Handicap sees Fudged line up. Coming off a strong win at Cranbourne on her last start, today sees a step up in both class and trip. Senior jockey Dwayne Dunn takes the ride and we have drawn well in barrier 3. She has been working well at home and it all looks to be in her favour today. All going to plan, I am expecting a big run from her today.

In Race 6 - the Ladbrokes Up for the Challenge Handicap, Rewarding Effort runs for us. Unlike his stablemate Fudged, unfortunately he wasn't as lucky with the barrier draw. Drawn wide in barrier 9 isn't ideal, especially as this horse likes to be ridden more forward. A lot will depend on how well he can jump from the barriers but Ben Thompson is a talented young apprentice who should give the horse every chance in the race. Ben's 1.5kg claim will also help.

Looking towards the weekend, we have 2 runners at The Valley on Friday night which I will update you all on tomorrow.
