Hoping Christmas Can Come Early at Mornington

Dec 08, 2017

We are off to the Christmas Race Day at Mornington today with 3 runners for the team. After some heavy rain on the Peninsula overnight, the track will race as a Soft 5 but this shouldn't have too much of a negative inpact on the performance of todays trio.

First up in Race 2 is AZARYAH who will be ridden by Jarrod Todd in the Mornington Auto Group Plate 3 yo Fillies Maiden over 1500m. Coming out of barrier 1, she has the inside draw which should suit nicely. The race experience she picked up at Cranbourne on her first start should stand her in good stead today as lines up against what looks on paper to be quite an even field.

Later in the card, Race 8 sees TENNAYA take her chance in the Mornington Tyre & Services Handicap over 1200m. Drawn well out of barrier 4, Brian Higgins is back in the saddle again today. Brian partnered the Bay Mare to victory at Pakenham last month and we would be hopeful of a repeat performance here today. Its an up in trip from that winning run but once the wet track doesn't hamper her, we are confident that Tennaya has the handle of her rivals in this one today.

Then in the lucky last, CHARLIE CHEVAL lines up in the European Autos Refinishers Handicap over 1500m. By Myboycharlie out of the mare Constant, breeding would suggest he can handle the wet track today. He has drawn well and will be ridden by Matthew Allen. Whether or not Charlie Cheval brings his 'A' game to the races today though is anyone's guess! Temperamental, he likes to do things his own way but has been working well at home and certainly deserves to take his chance today.

Best of luck to all the connections and hopefully we can bring home a winner or three for all the Festive revellers at Mornington today.
