Return to Sandown brings another win for Duplicity Jones
Feb 19, 2014
No horse was happier to be back racing on the Sandown Hillside circuit than the Colin and Cindy Alderson-trained Duplicity Jones.
Duplicity Jones broke his maiden on the spacious track in April 2013 but the entire Sandown circuit was out of action for months as the course was relaid.
The Aldersons entered the son of No Excuse Needed for the Le Pine Funerals Handicap (1800m) at the first meeting back at the track and the gelding did not disappoint.
Aided by a terrific Damien Oliver ride, Duplicity Jones dashed away from his 14 rivals to score a dominant 3-3/4-length win to again show his undoubted talent.
“You have got to say it was s super ride from the start,” Colin Alderson said. “Drawn awkwardly, I gave him the option of going forward if he had to.
“He slotted in and coming to the corner, he was just trotting but it was a good effort.
“He could make into a nice horse. Time will only tell.
“He’s big, strong devil and he’s a little bit immature mentally so hopefully he’ll make it.
“He’s a horse that might develop in time. He was a little bit wayward so hopefully he settles down and gets onto his job properly.”
Duplicity Jones earned another $21,000 for his terrific win, taking his earnings to more than $90,000.
Congratulations to Duplicity Jones’s owners - Cindy Alderson, Lyn Alderson, Shane Gardner, Kevin Hayes, Di John, John Murray, Peter Murray and the Gurners Bloodstock Syndicate – on their success.
