Jarrvis strolls to Geelong Synthetic success

May 13, 2014

Developing three-year-old Jarrvis produced a bold front-running display before thrashing his opposition to emphatically break his maiden on the Geelong Synthetic track.
Jarrvis showed a win was near with his solid fourth over 1619m at Moe at his previous start but trainers Colin and Cindy Alderson stepped the gelding up in trip for the APCO Service Stations 3YO Maiden Plate over 1900m.
Brian Higgins took over from Vlad Duric aboard the son of Primus and sent the promising stayer straight to the front.
Jarrvis travelled strongly but well within himself throughout the early and middle stages, which left plenty in reserve for a big finish to the $15,000 contest.
Jarrvis responded well to Higgins's urgings at the top of the straight and quickly opened a good break on his opposition before the jockey let his mount coast over the final 50 metres.
The gentle finish still resulted in a 4-1/4-length margin in a dominant display.
Jarrvis banked a $15,300 winner's cheque for his connections, which included a Super VOBIS bonus of $1890.
Congratulations to Jarrvis's owners on the gelding's first success.
